The games
Four in a Row
Seven columns, six rowsSeven columns, six rows and gravity: get four discs in a line before the other side does, and keep blocking theirs.
Dots and Boxes
The pencil-and-paper classicDraw lines between dots, close boxes and draw again; the long chains at the end decide everything.
Five in a Row
A wide fifteen-line gridPlace stones on a wide grid and make five in a line; open fours and forcing chains decide.
Today's puzzles
Each of the six boards gets one new position every day, identical for every visitor. Early in the week they are gentle, midweek sharper, and the weekend ones are deep. One solved position a day keeps your streak alive.
Four computer levels
Every game has the same four opponents. They think in a background thread, so the page never freezes, and on a slower phone they simply look a little less far ahead.
- Beginnerlooks one or two moves ahead and often plays a loose move; good for learning the rules
- Casualsees simple tactics three or four moves deep, with a little randomness
- Stronga proper search six moves deep; it punishes most mistakes
- Mastersearches as deep as its time allows, keeps what it learned between moves and solves endings exactly where it can
240 puzzles with checked solutions
Forty numbered puzzles for each game, from two-move tactics to exact endings. Every solution was proved by the engine against all defences before it was put on a page, and the computer defends as stubbornly as it can while you solve.
A quiet room to play in
